BBQ Sauce Recipe: Sugar-Free, Keto, Paleo, Whole30

With Summer approaching, we thought we would share one of our favorite BBQ Sauce recipes by Natalie at This recipe is perfect for the upcoming holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and especially Father’s Day ;). Dad’s, this one is for you!


  • Balsamic Vinegar: you can substitute for apple cider vinegar or white vinegar depending on your taste preference
  • Soy Sauce: for a gluten-free option, swap for Tamari or coconut aminos
  • Tomato Paste: For a thinner sauce, you can substitute for tomato sauce. Steer clear of ketchup to avoid any added sugars.
  • Monk Fruit Sweetener: substitute options include: coconut sugar, honey, maple syrup, or date paste for a natural sweetener.
  • Spices: garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, and black pepper
  • Dijon Mustard

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Heat saucepan over low heat. Add all the ingredients and bring to simmer (not boil) for roughly 5 minutes.
  2. Continuously stir ingredients in saucepan.
  3. If using dates – tranfser to a blender and blend for 2 minutes.
  4. Store in an airtight container. Store in fridge for up to 3 months or keep frozen for up to 1 year.
